In 1st Case Under Gujarat Black Magic Law, Man Arrested For 'Powers' Claim

Gujarat police have arrested a 29-year-old man for allegedly performing some rituals inside a crematorium and sharing a video of it on social media claiming that he possessed supernatural powers, an official said on Friday. With this, the police have registered the first case under the new Gujarat Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and Other Inhuman, Evil, and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act, the official said. The police arrested the accused, Ashwin Makwana, on October 15 after a video of him performing rituals at a crematorium in Dhoraji town of Rajkot district went viral on social media. Inspector RJ Godham, a complainant in the first information report (FIR), confirmed that this was the first FIR registered in the state under the newly enacted law against black magic and other such activities.
