With the next ODI World Cup in 2027, is it time for the veteran duo of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to make way for young talent? The ICC Champions Trophy has seen some exemplary performances from Indian stars, especially Kohli who is among the top-scoring batters. Rohit, on the other hand, hasn't failed to set the temp at the top but is yet to convert his starts into big scores. As reports emerge over the duo's possible exit from ODI cricket after the Champions Trophy, former India cricketer Aakash Chopra has given his 'honest' verdict. In a video on his YouTube channel , Chopra said that if the duo decide to hang on, the coming two years aren't going to be easy for them by any means. With the ODI World Cup scheduled to be held in 2027, deciding the future course of action isn't going to be an easy task. "It's entirely up to them. I will be very honest, it's not going to be easy. "Some Bully Governments Insist On Negotiations": Khamenei After Trump Threat

Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Saturday slammed what he described as bullying tactics a day after US President Donald Trump threatened military action against Iran. "Some bully governments -- I really don't know of any more appropriate term for some foreign figures and leaders than the word bullying -- insist on negotiations," Khamenei told officials after Trump threatened military action if Iran refuses to engage in talks over its nuclear programme. "Their negotiations are not aimed at solving problems, they aim at domination," Khamenei said. On Friday, Trump said he had written to Iran's supreme leader, urging new talks on the country's nuclear programme or face possible military action if it refuses. Khamenei said on Saturday that bullying powers aim to assert their own expectations. "They are setting new expectations that they think will definitely not be met by Iran," he said, without naming the United States or r...

"Immunity For 1 Murder...": Maharashtra Leader's Unique Request To President

The women's wing of the NCP (SP) has written to President Droupadi Murmu, urging her to grant immunity from punishment against "one murder" as women want to kill the "oppressive mentality" and "rapist mindset". Rohini Khadse, the women's wing president of the Sharad Pawar-led party, in the letter written on the occasion of International Women's Day, pointed out the recent gangrape of a 12-year-old girl in Mumbai to highlight rising crimes against women and press for their demand. "We, on behalf of all women, are demanding immunity (from punishment) to commit one murder," Rohini Khadse said in the letter, aimed at targeting the state government over the law and order situation in the state. She also cited a survey report stating that India was the most unsafe country for women as crimes, including kidnapping and domestic violence, were happening against them. "We want to kill the oppressive mentality, the rapist tendency, the ...

Actor Gene Hackman Died Of Natural Causes, A Week After Wife

Oscar-winning actor Gene Hackman died of natural causes, probably around a week after his wife passed away, the chief medical investigator in the US state of New Mexico said Friday. The findings end more than a week of mystery that have surrounded the death of one of Hollywood's most beloved stars, whose everyman persona belied a powerful presence and rare acting skill. "The cause of death for Mr. Gene Hackman, aged 95 years, is hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, with Alzheimer's disease as a significant contributory factor," Heather Jarrell, the chief medical examiner for the New Mexico Office of the Medical Investigator, told reporters. "The cause of death for Miss Betsy Hackman, aged 65 years, is hantavirus, pulmonary syndrome. The manner of death is natural." Neither body showed any sign of trauma, nor any indication of carbon monoxide poisoning, which had been an initial suggestion. Hantavirus presents as a flu-like disease, w...

Here's Why Google Has Removed Women's History Month From Its Calendar App

Google's online and mobile calendars no longer feature Women's History Month, Black History Month and LGBTQ+ holidays among others. For years, the world's biggest search engine used its popular online services to remind users about cultural events by marking them on its calendar app but in the last few weeks, users have noticed that it was no longer displaying those observances. The tech giant is said to have removed the calendar observances last year due to apolitical reasons. According to a Google spokesperson, maintaining hundreds of moments manually each year for various countries "wasn't scalable or sustainable". "Some years ago, the Calendar team started manually adding a broader set of cultural moments in a wide number of countries around the world. We got feedback that some other events and countries were missing - and maintaining hundreds of moments manually and consistently globally wasn't scalable or sustainable," the statement said ...

'Easier To Deal With Russia Than Ukraine To End War': Donald Trump

US President Donald Trump said Friday that he finds it "easier" to deal with Russia than with Ukraine in efforts to end the war in the pro-Western country -- and that he trusts Vladimir Putin. "I believe him," he said in a televised press conference at the White House. "I'm finding it more difficult frankly to deal with Ukraine and they don't have the cards," he said. "It may be easier dealing with Russia." Trump has pushed Ukraine hard, as it struggles to fend off Russian invasion after three years of war, and has ordered a pause in US military and intelligence assistance to Kyiv in order to apply more pressure. Despite threatening new sanctions on Russia earlier Friday, Trump said he understood why Putin's forces had inflicted a massive bombing campaign across Ukraine overnight. "I actually think he's doing what anybody in that position would be doing that right now," Trump said. "I've always had a good ...

Trump Suspends Nearly All Mexico Tariffs Until April 2

US President Donald Trump said Thursday that he was pausing sweeping tariffs recently imposed on Mexican imports after talks with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, while tensions with Canada continued to simmer amid strong blowback on world markets. Trump said fresh tariffs targeting Mexico would not apply to trade falling under a pact between the United States, Mexico and Canada for now, adding: "This Agreement is until April 2nd." On April 2, Canadian and Mexican goods could still face reciprocal levies. Trump said on Truth Social of his deal: "I did this as an accommodation, and out of respect for, President Sheinbaum. Our relationship has been a very good one." His remarks stood in sharp contrast with comments following earlier talks with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who he accused of using the dispute to "stay in power." Trudeau said Thursday that Ottawa will remain in a trade war with Washington for "the foreseeable future...

Jack Daniel's CEO Says Canada Pulling US Alcohol 'Worse Than Tariff'

A trade dispute between Canada and the US has escalated, with several Canadian provinces pulling American-made alcohol from store shelves. The move is a direct response to the Trump administration's imposition of 25% tariffs on Canadian goods. Lawson Whiting, CEO of Brown-Forman, the company behind Jack Daniel's, has denounced the Canadian retaliation, calling it "worse than tariffs" and "disproportionate" to the US levies. "I mean, that's worse than a tariff, because it's literally taking your sales away, completely removing our products from the shelves," Whiting said. The Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO), one of the world's largest alcohol buyers, removed US-made drinks from its shelves on Tuesday. Ontario Premier Doug Ford revealed that the LCBO sells nearly $1 billion worth of US alcohol annually, emphasising that all these products are now off the shelves. The LCBO's exclusive wholesaler status in Ontario means that ot...

Trump Claims 360-Year-Old Man Is Getting Social Security, Gets Fact Checked

US President Donald Trump delivered his first speech to Congress in his second term on Tuesday night (local time), elaborating on his massive budget cuts, crackdown on illegal migration and economic vision for America's future. However, during his address, the American President was found bending some facts on issues, especially on the payment of social security to millions of senior citizens above the age of hundred. Trump alleged his Social Security Administration (SSA) records show "shocking levels of incompetence and probable fraud in the Social Security program for our seniors, and that our seniors and people that we love rely on." "Believe it or not, government databases list 4.7 million Social Security members from people aged 100 to 109 years old. It lists 3.6 million people from ages 110 to 119. I don't know any of them. I know some people who are rather elderly but not quite that elderly. 3.47 million people from ages 120 to 129. 3.9 million people fr...

"Delimitation Separate From Population Management": Chandrababu Naidu

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday sought to dispel confusion around delimitation, asserting that it is a separate issue from population management and should not be linked to the ongoing political discussions. "Delimitation is a continuous process, occurring once in 25 years," Naidu told reporters here. "Don't link all issues at a time. Delimitation and population management are different. I am talking about national interest," he added. Discussing the ongoing political debates, Naidu emphasised, "There are reservations, and we will accommodate them. But don't link all issues at a time." Speaking about India's demographic potential, Naidu highlighted the country's unique position in the global demographic landscape, describing India as having the "biggest advantage of demographic dividend". Naidu also drew attention to the global aging crisis, pointing out the population challenges in countries lik...

World's Biggest Iceberg Runs Aground Off Remote Antarctic Island

The world's biggest iceberg appears to have run aground roughly 70 kilometres from a remote Antarctic island, potentially sparing the crucial wildlife haven from being hit, a research organisation said Tuesday. The colossal iceberg A23a -- which is more than twice the size of Greater London and weighs nearly one trillion tonnes -- has been drifting north from Antarctica towards South Georgia island since 2020. This had raised fears it could collide with the island or run aground in shallower water near it, potentially disrupting the ability of penguins and seals to feed their young. However, the gigantic wall of ice has been stuck 73 kilometres (45 miles) from the island since March 1, according to a statement from the British Antarctic Survey (BAS). "If the iceberg stays grounded, we don't expect it to significantly affect the local wildlife," BAS oceanographer Andrew Meijers said. "In the last few decades, the many icebergs that end up taking this route th...

India XI vs Aus: Rohit's Hint For Semifinal, Pinpoints Tempting Factor

India captain Rohit Sharma did not commit to following the four-spinner template in the Champions Trophy semifinal against Australia, but said Varun Chakravarthy's splendid effort against New Zealand has made that option very “tempting.” India played with Chakravarthy, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel and the quartet wrecked the Kiwis, sharing nine wickets among them in their team's 44-run win here on Sunday. “We really need to think, even if we want to play four spinners, how we can squeeze four spinners. The reason I say it is because we are very much aware of the conditions here and we know exactly what works and what doesn't work,” Rohit said in his pre-match press conference. “So, we will think about it, what is the right combination to go with, but it is tempting,” he added. Chakravarthy, who came in as a replacement for rested pacer Harshit Rana, was excellent while returning with the figures of 5/42, and Rohit said the spinner is certainly in the team...

Chakravarthy Was 'Nervous' vs NZ In CT 2025, Then Rohit And Kohli Did This

The X-factor around mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy's bowling influenced his selection for India's last Champions Trophy group game in Dubai against New Zealand, skipper Rohit Sharma said on Sunday after the move proved to be a masterstroke. Chakravarthy justified his selection in the XI with excellent figures of 5/42 in 10 overs, as India registered a convincing 44-run victory to top Group A on way to the semifinals alongside the Kiwis in second place. "He has got something different about him, so wanted to try and see what he had to offer. We got to think a little about what to do for the next game, it's a good headache. If he gets it right, it's very difficult to read him," Rohit said of Chakravarthy at the presentation ceremony. India will play Australia in the first semifinal on Tuesday with New Zealand taking on South Africa the following day in Lahore. "It will be a good game, Australia has a rich history of playing well in ICC tournaments, b...

Starmer said both leaders wanted to achieve "a lasting peace for Ukraine, based on sovereignty and security for Ukraine -- so important for Europe and so important for the United Kingdom".
