Indian Dental Student, Working Part-Time At US Gas Station, Shot Dead

A 27-year-old Indian student has reportedly been shot dead in Dallas, US. Chandrashekar Pole, who was from Hyderabad, was working at a gas station Friday night when he was killed by an unidentified gunman, his family said, urging the government to help bring his body back from the US. Pole had moved to the US in 2023 for higher studies after finishing his bachelor's in dental surgery back in Hyderabad. He completed his master's degree in the US six months ago and had been looking for a full-time placement while working part-time at the gas station. "We learned about his death from his friend's parents, who visited us and shared our grief. We request the central and state governments to ensure the safety of Indians and bring my son's body back home as soon as possible," Pole's mother Sunitha told news agency ANI. The Consulate General of India (CGI) in Houston, which oversees Texas, said it is in touch with Pole's family and following up on the probe...

Damaged Eardrum, Bloody Nose: Doctor Thrashed By Patient's Family

A doctor was left with a ruptured eardrum and a bloody nose following an attack by the relatives of a patient at a hospital in Maharashtra's Jalgaon.

Mohit Gadiya, a junior resident doctor, saw that the ward where people injured in firecracker explosions were being treated was overcrowded, according to the police complaint.

Just before the assault happened on Friday, Gadiya was treating one of the patients in the crowded ward. He then asked the family members of a patient to wait outside due to crowding in the treatment room.

However, they refused to leave and thrashed the doctor, throwing strong punches at him several times. When they saw blood coming out of the doctor's nose, the family that attacked the doctor took the patient to another hospital.

The hospital informed the police about the incident, following which the police said they have detained two suspects.

The Maharashtra Association Of Resident Doctors gave a memorandum to the hospital administration demanding permanent security on campus. They said this was the third incident of attack on doctors at the hospital in recent times.

Attacks on healthcare workers carry stringent punishment -- jail term of up to seven years and a hefty fine.

US Reopens Lake Michigan Airspace After Closure Over "National Defense"

US officials restricted the airspace over Lake Michigan on Sunday citing a potential new threat to national security but soon reopened the skies, as the United States and Canada respond to multiple air intrusions. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced "temporary flight restrictions" over one of the Great Lakes along the US-Canada border, designating it as "national defense airspace," one day after a similar closure over Montana led to the scrambling of US fighter jets. The Montana closure was ordered over a "radar anomaly," but no object was discovered. Similarly, the Lake Michigan restrictions were lifted shortly after they were announced, apparently with no threat detected. "The FAA briefly closed some airspace over Lake Michigan to support Department of Defense activities. The airspace has been reopened," the agency said in a statement to AFP. Sunday's action over Lake Michigan marked the latest move to address a series ...
