Lalit Modi Cleared In Key 2009 IPL South Africa Case After Tribunal Verdict

Former chairman Lalit Modi was cleared in the principal proceedings arising from the 2009 Indian Premier League's staging in South Africa after the Appellate Tribunal under SAFEMA set aside the penalties imposed on him, rejecting the Enforcement Directorate's core case that the foreign remittances were capital account transactions.Announcing the verdict after more than 16 years of investigations, proceedings, and litigation, Modi said the tribunal found that the main remittances related to IPL 2009 were current account transactions. It also determined that he was not responsible for the BCCI's statutory FEMA compliance or given the financial authority as alleged by the Enforcement Directorate. Calling it the end of the largest legal dispute stemming from the 2009 South Africa edition of the IPL, Modi said, "This marks the end of what has been the single most significant legal matter arising from the 2009 South Africa IPL." He added, "For over sixteen year...

Christopher Nolan Says "Buy A Ticket" As He Hints At Horror Film After Odyssey

Christopher Nolan has sparked fresh excitement among his fans, hinting at a horror film being on the cards. The Academy Award winner, whose latest release The Odyssey is making waves at the box office, and working on the film has only made him more interested in exploring horror. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the director was asked if audiences could finally stop asking him to make a horror film, considering The Odyssey includes several dark and unsettling moments. Responding with a laugh, he said, “I was going to say that. They don't need to beg me to tell a horror story anymore. Just buy a ticket.”  While The Odyssey may have touched on horror, Nolan made it clear that it had not ended his interest in the genre. In fact, the experience pushed him closer to it.  “It very much whets my appetite for more. But I've always believed that horror as a genre has to be approached very carefully from a conceptual point of view. In other words, you have to have an amazing...

Akshaye Owned 2025 With Dhurandhar, But 2026 Belongs To Naseeruddin Shah

That veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah is a masterclass of acting need not be said. It certainly need not be reiterated as the ace actor turns 76 and is better at his craft than ever. What's interesting recently is how incredible talents from the '80s and '90s have found their second innings in the cinematic landscape extremely rewarding. Old gen, new crowds - they are all there to praise stellar performances. And Naseeruddin Shah has had a swell 2026 so far. He is being applauded for his performances in Imtiaz Ali's Main Vaapas Aaunga and  Made In India: A Titan Story on OTT, both of which have highlighted that he's owning the year with less showsha and more work. This invariably reminds us of another actor who had an equally fruitful 2025, all while remaining in the shadows of overflowing fan love. Akshaye Khanna. Not that we are comparing the two actors - they weren't of the same generation to begin with. While Naseeruddin Shah rose up the ladder in t...

Ahead Of WC Final vs Spain, Scaloni's Praise For Messi Takes Internet By Storm

Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni urged fans to make the most of seeing Lionel Messi lead his team out in another World Cup final at the age of 39 as the holders aim to retain the trophy when they take on Spain this weekend. "He has made history. He is a legend," Scaloni said of the former Barcelona player, who has already helped Argentina win a World Cup and back-to-back Copa America titles in the last five years. Messi's international career has enjoyed a remarkable late renaissance -- a decade ago he briefly retired from the Argentina team at the age of 29 after a Copa America final loss to Chile, his fourth defeat in a final for his country. Messi and Scaloni hugged on the pitch at full-time after Wednesday's 2-1 semi-final win over England, with the Argentine captain calling that victory "pure history". "It fills me with pride because he is the best player in the history of football," Scaloni said of Messi, who has scored eight goals at this ...

BCCI Rubbishes Speculation About Rohit, Says He Will Continue To Play After Lords ODI

The BCCI on Friday rubbished speculation about Rohit Sharma's future, stating he will continue to play for India after the series-deciding third and final ODI against England at Lord's on Sunday. Speculation has been rife that the Lord's ODI on Sunday could be Rohit's last international match, but BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia dismissed any such suggestion. "There are lot of speculations going on in media about Rohit Sharma's future. I want to firmly assert that there has been no such discussion that Rohit will be playing his last match at Lord's on Sunday," Saikia told PTI in an exclusive interaction. "Rohit is a regular member of the Indian ODI team and he will continue to represent the country as long as he is in the scheme of things. In other words, Lord's ODI wont be his last match." Despite Rohit's publicly stated desire to play until the 2027 ODI World Cup, his modest returns in the first two matches of the series -- sc...

Bellingham Argues With Messi, Then Almost Comes To Blows With Argentina Star

Lionel Messi and Jude Bellingham were the two central characters in the England vs Argentina FIFA World Cup 2026 semi-final clash. Much of their teams' chances depended on the duo. It was no surprise when the two had a brief argument over a contentious decision by the referee. Shortly after the match started, Leandro Paredes went in late on Jude Bellingham , and Enzo Fernandez did likewise to Elliot Anderson soon after. The England camp felt it warranted a card, but the referee disagreed. It was at this point that Messi argued with Bellingham. Argentina ultimately won the match 2-1 and entered the final. I agree that Tuchel was at fault. But whatever tf Bellingham said to Messi here was also a factor…. pic.twitter.com/gmdrYgA1PB — Castro1021 (@Castro1021) July 15, 2026 After the match was over, Bellingham went and fought with Valentin Barco , who played last season at Strasbourg in France's Ligue . 'Bumrah Can't Be The Answer': Gambhir, Gill Slammed Over Playing XI Decision

The decision to not include Kuldeep Yadav in the Indian cricket team playing XI for the first ODI encounter against England did not go down well with several experts. India went with four pace-bowling options - Jasprit Bumrah , Prasidh Krishna , Gurnoor Brar and Shivam Dube - and two spinners in Axar Patel and Washington Sundar . While Brar and Krishna took early wickets to leave England struggling at six wickets down, Liam Dawson and Joe Root took advantage of the absence of a specialist spinner to stage a comeback. Former India fast bowler Varun Aaron criticised the decision taken by the team management and said that Bumrah cannot be asked to drag India out of trouble on every occasion. "India has Kuldeep Yadav. Axar Patel is bowling arm balls into the batter and bowling all those sliders. You have to play around with your speeds and the seam position to get something out of the wicket," said Varun on commentary. “The English batters are setting up to play Axar a...

Oliver Kahn Picks 'Strongest' From 4 World Cup Semifinalists. Not Argentina

As the FIFA World Cup 2026 reaches the semi-final stage, legendary German goalkeeper Oliver Kahn picked France as the strongest contender for the FIFA World Cup trophy, calling the Les Blues "the most complete side". France are set to take on Spain in the FIFA World Cup 2026 first semi-final on July 15 at the Dallas stadium. The two teams will face each other for the second time in the final stages of the World Cup after the round of 16 won by Les Bleus (3-1) in 2006. Kahn gave France a slight edge while acknowledging how closely matched the remaining teams are. "If I had to pick one team based purely on what we've seen so far, I would probably say France. They look the most complete side in terms of balance, depth and their ability to win games in different ways. But the margins between these four teams are extremely small, and any one of them is capable of lifting the World Cup," Kahn said on Zee5. Previewing the last four, Kahn described Spain vs France a...

Yastika's Historic Ton, Bowlers Put India On Cusp Of Lord's Test Win vs Eng

Wicketkeeper-batter Yastika Bhatia became the first woman to score a Test century at Lord's before India's bowlers tightened their grip on the historic one-off Women's Test against England on Sunday. Resuming the penultimate day with an overall lead of 269, India declared their second innings at 341/7 at the stroke of tea, setting England an improbable target of 457 in four sessions. In reply, England slumped to 130/6 at stumps with Amy Jones unbeaten on 52, leaving India just four wickets away from a memorable victory in the first-ever women's Test at Lord's. Sayali Satghare and Kranti Gaud claimed two wickets apiece to put the visitors in complete control. Brief Scores India 285 and 341/7 declared; 86.3 overs (Yastika Bhatia 113, Smriti Mandhana 70, Richa Ghosh 50 not out; Sophie Ecclestone 5/118, Lauren Bell 2/27). Ramiz Raja Slams PCB After Babar's Captaincy Return: "Submit Written Protest"

Former Pakistan skipper Ramiz Raja has criticised the PCB for removing Shan Masood as the Test captain for the upcoming tours of West Indies and England. The PCB has reinstated Babar Azam as the skipper, something that hasn't gone down well with Raja, who is also a former cricket board chairman. Incidentally Babar led the national Test team from 2020 to 2023. “You give him an ordinary Test team and then expect him to produce good results,” Ramiz commented on his YouTube channel. He expressed concerns that Babar, who had replaced Shan as the Test captain for the coming tours of the Caribbean and England, would also face similar challenges. "If I had been in Shan's place, I would have submitted a written protest with the board that when a captain is consistently given a group of ordinary players consistently then how can you expect positive results?," Raja lashed out at PCB mandarins. “If the standard of the Test squad is not good, how is the captain only responsi...

BTS' Agency Denies Swim Copyright Infringement Claims, Plans To Take Legal Action

BTS' agency, Big Hit Music, has responded to allegations that Swim , the lead single from the group's fifth studio album, Arirang, infringes on the copyright of a song written by three American songwriters.  On July 10, Big Hit Music addressed the lawsuit, maintaining that the allegations are based solely on the plaintiffs' claims and asserting that "Swim" was independently created.  The agency has rejected the claims and said it will defend itself through legal channels. The Controversy According to Billboard, songwriters Steve Cooper, John Sandler and Graylyn Johnson recently filed a lawsuit, alleging that BTS' Swim closely resembles a demo they had previously written under the same title. The lawsuit names HYBE, HYBE America and Big Hit Music as defendants.  It also includes several songwriters credited on Swim , including OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder.  However, Billboard reported that BTS members have not been named in the lawsuit, despit...

Trade Setup For July 10: How Nifty May React To TCS Q1 Results - Key Levels To Watch

The Nifty 50 started Thursday's session on a positive note and touched an intraday high of 24,134.70 in early trade. This level marked nearly a 61.8% retracement of the previous day's decline. However, the index failed to sustain at higher levels and gave up more than 150 points from the day's high in the second half of the session. Despite this late weakness, the index ended higher by 80.75 points, or 0.34%, and snapped its two-day losing streak. However, the close below the psychological 24,000 mark kept the recovery muted. Nifty Forms Inside Candle   Thursday's price action resulted in the formation of an inside candle. This came after the previous session recorded the widest single-day range in over one month. The latest candle had a small green body and a long upper shadow, which indicates hesitation at higher levels. This suggests that while buying interest emerged after the recent decline, traders were not confident enough to carry positions aggressively. ...

Messi Receives Huge Praise From France Great After WC Heroics: "Not Human"

Thierry Henry said his former Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi reminded everyone that he is "not human" after the Argentina captain inspired a dramatic comeback against Egypt, saying the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner has a unique ability to raise his game when his team needs him the most. Reacting to Argentina's 3-2 victory over Egypt in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 16, Henry, while speaking on Fox Sports, reflected on his years as Messi's teammate at Barcelona and said the Argentine's competitive fire is unlike anything he has witnessed. "First and foremost, look at him crying, and how much that means to him and to the team," Henry said, as quoted by Fox Sports. "It first reminded us that he's human; he's human because he missed some penalty kicks, four out of eight. Then it reminds us again that he's not human!" Henry and Messi played together at FC Barcelona for three seasons, from 2007 to 2010. During their time toge...

Messi Goes Clear In FIFA World Cup 2026 Golden Boot Race, Extends All-Time Goals Record

Lionel Messi produced a trademark response after his first-half penalty miss, inspiring Argentina's comeback in their FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 16 clash against Egypt at Atlanta Stadium. The defending champions looked on course for a shock exit after goals from Yasser Ibrahim and Mostafa Ziko handed Egypt a 2-0 lead. However, Messi first floated in a pinpoint cross for Cristian Romero to head home in the 79th minute before finding the net himself four minutes later with a composed finish to level the scores at 2-2. The goal took Messi to eight goals at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, moving him clear at the top of the tournament's Golden Boot race, while also extending his own record as the highest goalscorer in FIFA World Cup history with 21 career goals. Diljit asked fans who have watched and downloaded the film to show it to others who haven't seen it yet. "I came live on Instagram to thank people for watching Satluj. "What I had feared actually happened. I thought the film would be taken down by Monday, but it happened sooner than expected. That's why we didn't promote the film. Does FIFA Want Argentina To Win World Cup Again? Argentina Coach's Blunt Reply

Argentina have a relatively easier road to the latter stages of the FIFA World Cup 2026 compared to some of the other favourites in the tournament. Argentina face the tournament's surprise package Cape Verde in the Round of 32, Australia or Egypt await in the Round of 16, and one of Switzerland, Colombia or Ghana could be the potential quarter-final opponent. Against all these teams, Argentina will be overwhelming favourites to win. Therefore, it won't be a surprise if the reigning champions make it all the way to the semis at the very least. Argentina's easier route has led to certain sections of social media users conspiring whether FIFA themselves want Argentina to win the World Cup again. However, Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni rubbished such suggestion when asked on the matter ahead of their Round of 32 match. "I don't read social media, but today every opinion can become popular no matter its content. We must ignore such unrealistic opinions and focus o...

Who Is Lionel Mpasi? DR Congo Goalkeeper Who Has Kept England At Bay

Even before the FIFA World Cup Round of 32 match in Atlanta was 10 minutes old, England suffered a rude jolt as Brian Cipenga scored in the seventh minute. But it was not Cipenga that England were most worried about. Their tormentor-in-chief was goalkeeper Lionel Mpasi. The 31-year-old made at least three saves to deny England. He saved two headers from Jude Bellingham, another shot from the same player, and denied Harry Kane in the final minute of the first half. Lionel Mpasi plays as a goalkeeper for Ligue 1 club Le Havre. He was born in Meaux, France. He played for France at the U16, U17 and U18 levels. He then decided to represent his parents' home country. He made his debut for the DR Congo national team in a 1-0 friendly defeat to Bahrain on 1 February 2022. He was crucial for DR Congo during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. Talking about the match, Brian Cipenga gave Congo a surprising 1-0 lead over England at half-time of their World Cup Round of 32 match on Wednesda...
