Frequent arguments over her social media activity and the friends she had made online led to a man slitting his wife's throat with a vegetable cutter in West Bengal on Friday, police said. The man fled after the murder and the couple's minor son returned home to find his mother lying in a pool of blood. Speaking in front of their house in Harinarayanpur in South 24 Parganas district's Joynagar, the boy told reporters that his parents, Parimal and Aparna Baidya, used to fight frequently and his father had threatened to cut his mother into pieces on several occasions. "I came home to find her body lying there," he said, adding that he alerted the neighbours after that. A neighbour said Parimal picked up a boti (an instrument used to cut vegetables and meat) and attacked his wife, who died from the injuries. The Election Commission on Saturday issued a notice to ruling BRS working president and IT Minister K T Rama Rao for allegedly visiting a government institution here and using the platform for political activities and sought a reply from him by Sunday afternoon. The EC in its notice said it had received a complaint from Congress MP Randeep Singh Surjewala, wherein it was alleged that Rama Rao, a star campaigner for BRS visited the office of 'T-works' and interacted with a large number of youth employed in the office on November 20. The Commission obtained a factual report on the matter from the Telangana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO). The Supreme Court on Friday raised tough questions against petitioners in the case linked to a report by a George Soros-funded group that targeted the Adani Group. "Why must we take foreign reports as the truth? We are not rejecting the report, but we need proof. So what proof do you have against the Adani Group?" Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud told the petitioner's lawyer Prashant Bhushan. "A publication's work can't be treated as a gospel of truth," Chief Justice Chandrachud said. A mysterious illness is spreading among dogs in the US. According to CBS , hundreds of pets have been impacted by the deadly respiratory illness in more than 10 states. The Oregon Department of Agriculture in a news release said that the mysterious illness is described as an "atypical canine infectious respiratory disease." In Oregon alone, veterinarians have reported more than 200 cases of the disease since mid-August. Other cases were reported in Colorado, Illinois and New Hampshire.  "Based on the epidemiology of the cases reported at this point, the cases appear to share a viral aetiology, but common respiratory diagnostic testing has been largely negative," Oregon State Veterinarian Dr Ryan Scholz told the American Veterinary Medical Association.
