31-Test Veteran Emerges As Strong Contender For India Chief Selector's Job

Former India opener Wasim Jaffer has applied for the vacant senior national selector's post, putting himself in contention for a position that fell vacant after the BCCI decided against renewing Ajit Agarkar's contract. "Yes, I have applied for the job," Jaffer confirmed to PTI. The 48-year-old Jaffer played 31 Tests for India, scoring close to 2,000 runs, including five centuries. His Test hundreds included a double century against the West Indies and a hundred in South Africa. He also scored a double century against Pakistan in Kolkata. If selected by the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), comprising Ashok Malhotra and Jatin Paranjape, Jaffer would have the highest number of Test appearances among the candidates being considered for the chairman's position. With 31 Tests, he has a better playing record in the longest format than Pragyan Ojha, who represented India in 24 Tests. Under the existing selection process, the member from the zone with the highest num...

"I Like To Be Comfortable": Animal Star Triptii On Her Airport Fashion

Delhi will always hold a special place in actor Triptii Dimri's life as she grew up here. On Wednesday, she made a quick stopover in the national capital for an event, where she briefly spoke to ANI and recalled her fond memories associated with Delhi.

"I have spent 21 years of my life in Delhi. While coming to South Extension market today, I undoubtedly became nostalgic. I have spent hours and hours in markets of Delhi exploring delicious street food items like momos. I miss my family, friends and of course food in Delhi," Triptii shared on the sidelines of the launch of Twamev's flagship store in Delhi.

Triptii originally hails from Uttarakhand but has spent a major part of her life in Delhi. After studying in Delhi, she moved to Mumbai to pursue an acting career.

And now with her acting stint in films like Laila Majnu, Bulbul, Qala and Animal, the young artiste has managed to carve a niche for herself in the industry. Interestingly, Triptii has also been enthralling fans with her fashion statement.

With appearances at the airport becoming a frequent occurrence for her, it didn't take time for her to come into the spotlight for the outfits that she donned before travelling to another city.

Asked if she underwent the pressure to always be well-dressed at the airport, Triptii said,"No...I like to be comfortable. I feel very cold in aircraft so I make sure I am fully covered and comfortable."

She also feels that her fashion quotient has evolved over the years.

"Initially, I was very casual with my dressing...even now I am very casual but when I have to go to events I have to be a little careful. I can't be too casual all the time right?" Triptii laughed.

Harvard Astrophysicist Says He Found Alien Tech From A Meteor: Report

A Harvard University astrophysicist claims to have made a significant advancement in the quest for extraterrestrial life. Professor Avi Loeb thinks he may have discovered pieces of alien technology from a meteor that crashed in 2014 off the coast of Papua New Guinea. According to CBS News , Loeb and his team just brought the materials back to Harvard for analysis. The U.S. Space Command can confirm with almost near certainty, 99.999%, that it came from another solar system. The government gave Loeb a 10-kilometre (6.2-mile) radius of where it may have landed. "That is where the fireball took place, and the government detected it from the Department of Defence. It's a very big area, the size of Boston, so we wanted to pin it down," said Loeb. "We figured the distance of the fireball based on the time delay between the arrival of the blast wave, the boom of the explosion, and the light that arrived quickly." According to USA Today, the fragments the team uncov...
